I am now 10 years beyond 50, and back then I was doing most of the 52 things listed in this book (but not the competitive event thing for me) as well as taking advanced quality nutritional supplements (which I believe are a must).The idea of making "being healthy", simple and easy is great. And one resolution for each week is pretty cool.
However, some of the things that are suggested did not serve me. My weight continued to increase despite actively doing the majority of the 52 resolutions suggested in this book.
The key to improvement in my health was to read and put into practice the principles of Dr Steven Gundry's book Dr. Gundry's Diet Evolution: Turn Off the Genes That Are Killing You and Your Waistline
My husband and I started the "Diet Evolution" programme last August and since then our blood results have improved and our weight(and waist size) is on its way to being optimal. As Dr Gundry says "a healthy grain is an oxymoron" and I agree.
I do not recommend eating wholegrains.
An extra resolution that I do recommend is to take the best quality supplements that you can afford.

The great thing about this book is that not everything works well for every person, but if you apply yourself, there is enough good stuff in this book that something is going to help you. It takes 21 days to convert a habit into an enduring part of our routine and maybe some of these good ideas will work for people, but the great thing is that even if you don't do all 52, even doing a handfull of them will have you living better and feeling better. Most solutions are very complex with multiple parts and are focused in only 1 direction, this book has a wide array of solutions that allows the reader to find something that works best for them and continue making changes in their lives that will ultimately benefit them.
Every household should have this book. Before the book I thought I was living right. But, after reading this book,
It has changed my lifestyle for the better.
